I am an 80 yo white female, started excessive sweating several months ago out of the blue. My Dr. doesn’t have a clue what could be causing it. But sweat runs from my scalp into my eyes, drips off my face and my clothing is damp to soaked almost all the time. Cardiologist said it could a heart problem.

I found a way for a little relief. (Not a cure.) I bought a sports band about 1 1/2″ wide, (less than $5.00) that I wear around my neck (you could wear it around your head) called “coolz down”. It contains little beads of some sort, when soaked in cold water for a time swell and fill the band. These are very cooling and give me a little relief.

I noticed that if I have any other condition (infection of any kind) going on, it is much worse. One morning I woke up and there was a horrific odor, but overriding it all was an ammonia smell.

If I have anything more positive to report, will post it. Would also like to find something encouraging.

I am 55 years old. HH runs in the family. This condition is making my job unbearable. I work in a physicians office. It is so bad recently I feel I may have to give notice after many years. I have to work with patients in the office all day. I am so totally anxious about it that the HH escalates as the day goes on. My entire body will be soaked. It makes it almost impossbile to deal with the public. I feel for everyone with this condition. My daughter uses the electric water current and it helps her. Soon a genetic cure. I pray for it always.

mostly the condition HH is genetic. in 7 of 10 cases hyperhidrosis is in the family. some of them who are free of the sweating symptoms discover that the hh begins when they are triggered by heavy psychic impacts, medications or even surgerys, this is highly interesting in my mind…

Sweating is often uncontrollable, embarrassing and not anticipated . Normal sweating is needed for thermal regulation however in people suffering from hyperhidrosis, sweating exceeds the bodys need for physiological thermal regulation.

There are many, many causes for Hyperhidrosis and there is many so caleed cures. A natural diet certainly helps as we are inclined to use to many processes foods which contain too many chemicals which the body struggles to handle.There is certainly a lot of truth in what people say on this site.

I’ve had HH since childhood and recently it’s got much worse because I’m on steroid treatment for an underactive thyroid.

A few years ago my friend Anne and I started a Hyperhidrosis Forum for sufferers and it’s helped us to fight back at the disease. It’s now become the largest privately owned Hyperhidrosis support group on the internet. We both suffer with HH – Primary Generalised – and sweat from our scalps to our feet.

Talking about it with other people really does help, we call it ‘therapy on a page’!

We’re also involved in medical research in the US, a lady called Betsy Vibert is researching genetics and hopes to isolate the gene that causes excessive sweating. Once she’s managed that, then who knows what is around the corner for us all.

3 years ago I devoloped a lump on my thyroid gland. It was very noticble and you couldn’t miss it. I went to my doctors who sent me for blood tests. They came back NEGATIVE. Since then I have sufferd absolute excessive sweating of the head and face. My blood has been taken several times and even though it shows it is way too high, my doc won’t do a thing about it. He states that if he puts me on medication, I will be on it for the rest of my life. In the meantime, my lump is still there, which by the way I had a scan on which showed I had tumours on both sides of my thyroid gland both which are negative after being tested for cancer. My point is that I have been left to deal with deliberating condition for 3 years with no help or advice from my GP. It makes me feel ashamed, embarrassed and VERY self concious. So glad I found this site. Its good to know your not alone. My heart goes out to all of you who suffer. And suffer we do. I’m from England so you all know its not the weather thats causing this illness. LOL. I do believe there is an underlying condition that is causing this for all of us. I just hope that we all find out the answer sooner rather than later.

After many attempts to cure the problem I was lead to iontophoresis. After only a week I had positive results. I recommend anyone looking for a cure to give it a chance.

The cause of hyperhidrosis is hormonal imbalances(at least primary hyperhidrosis). Think only of menopause, puberty, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism..etc. Only by eliminating the cause, the problem will be no more. Drugs and topic treatments mask the problem temporarily, ETS causes compensatory sweating in all cases (it is a scam). I believe the way one can get rid of hyperhidrosis is by inducing a balance of hormones. In some cases the liver or the kidney may not be functioning properly. There are some ebooks on the internet that talk about eliminating certain sugars from the diet..so you sweat less; refined (unnatural) sugar for example produces an immediate high flow of insulin, destabilizing other hormones.And i can confirm that an all natural raw diet does lessen hyperhidrosis, but it is hard. I am not a doctor. I am however a hyperhidrosis sufferer from birth (now 24)that has read a lot about it and trying to come up with a cure. THIS IS MY 2 CENTS.
